Bolton Castle

Findings from Bellerby.

For those who dont already know, my parents bought a house in Bellerby, North Yorkshire last year and have been knocking down walls, decorating and burning things there ever since. Its pretty much finished now and the only thing left to sort out is the garden. In the garden shed we found every issue of the magazines "Practical Mechanics", "Practical Wireless" and "Practical Television", that had been collected by the man who used to live there, dating back to 1950. I dont know anything about the magazines, but I really liked some of the front covers so, even though they're in quite a bad condition, I kept a lot of them. These are some of my favourites.

Macmillan.

These are my final spreads for the Macmillan Childrens Book Competition. Like Penguin, I'm not completely happy with them but I'm really proud of myself for getting all 12 spreads finished in time and working really hard on it.

Final cover for penguin Competition.

If I'm being honest i'm not very happy with this. I should've spent more time on the type and layout. The images I quite like, but I ran out of time to make it perfect. Overall its ok.

Penguin Etchings

A few etchings I did before Easter for the Penguin competition. I etched 4 A6 plates and then palyed around with the layout of them on the page. These are a few of them.

Macmillan Mountains

Macmillan

Over Easter I decided to change my story for Macmillan. I was finding it really hard to draw the characters in the first story as I'm not very confident with drawing people and I couldn't get any continuity between the spreads. So I decided to use a different story I'd written about a Marmot. These are some pages from my sketchbook when I was developing a character.
